ABSTRACT: The Carnival is collective celebration observed in many people around the world and it’s characterized by a “Rupture” with the day-by-day life, for its sense of break of moral and social patterns. Notwithstanding, the Laborer’s Carnival (Carnaval Operário) here studied is enlarged for a symbol of the immaterial resistance and domination of the worker’s life in Fernão Velho (Maceió-AL). Considering a theory-conceptual basis correlated in the Historic Materialism and the Symbolic Representation, here it’s done a comparative analysis between two different sides the Ferrugem (The Rust) and the Boi (The Ox), that coexists in two different contexts of the same social space (the first on of the worker’s neighborhood, and the second one of the bedroom town, in this sequence), therefore, it’s used oral sources and the researcher’s experience (a dweller of the community), also films and photography.

Keywords: Carnival. Worker’s Village. Domination. Resistance.
